8.12 - #FindGreatness
I received an email about a midnight run and being me I jumped at the chance from a squat position. Intense right?
We were to meet at 1948 for 11:30pm but I made my way into shoreditch a tad earlier just to stay active anyway.
We rolled in and by 11:45, we had guests from Portland who were going to join us on our run.
One of our guests, Jesse spoke to us and gave us details about what our mission was. From then it was just a matter of the clock striking midnight and when it did I took on the name “Ethan Hunt” and my quest to find greatness started. We embarked on another journey through the city and one of our infamous routes and run dem crew that we call “Bridges” looked even more lovely at night time.
We did the Run dem thing and took pictures. It felt good to be running at that time with the crew in fact, I think we should do midnight runs more often.
As the day went on I conducted various fuel checks,
2:00am - 2,783 Fuel points.
10:00am - 3005 Fuel points.
2:52pm - 6953 Fuel points.
This is where the struggle began by 6:00pm or there about I had 6, 395 Fuel points and I had to go to my cousins house for hios birthday. My mission was sabotaged. I knew I wasn’t going to be active when I went.
I finished the day on 9,948 Fuel points. My mission was to overcome 11,703 but it was physically impossible to accomplish sitting at a dinner table. I did triple my goal though, I think being part of it from midnight meant more to me anyway I have other days to better my best day.
My crews motto is “Go hard or Go Home” I just didn’t go hard enough so I’m going to try and Find greatness all the time.

My Rule book..
I feel like my life’s been a game of checkers. I kept losing pieces until I reached the other side and got crowned.

This journey, unlike any other journey started off with a story.
I told a story
I told a story to Charlie Dark after 3 weeks of short attention spans and no interaction.
Then came a CD with a track that had an insight into how deep the story was.
Let’s take it back, before the Job, the clothes, the emails and shoe boxes.
I met Charlie,
I met Charlie at Hanley Crouch a youth centre that I no longer attended but received a call to attend for a spoken word workshop.
A spoken word workshop,
As an MC words are our greatest tool and to understand further the power given to mankind in the form of words I attended the workshop.
My interest grew as the weeks went by, in time I started to implement what I learnt in my own work. I became fond of the sessions and out of no where grew a liking towards Charlie Dark.
On the way home,
On the way home Charlie spoke to me about Run Dem Crew and the “Youngers” project. He explained, what it was about and from then on I was sold. I couldn’t wait to start, I consistently bothered Abraham at Hanley crouch to put my name forward to Charlie as a candidate younger for the project.
Then It Happened,
Charlie invited me down and I was unofficially a Run Dem Crew younger 2 weeks before the project even kicked off. Charlie then introduced me as the first younger in the building and the round of applause was overwhelming.
2 weeks later,
2 weeks later I met a bunch of people who were to be the set of “RDCYoungers” it was weird at first I felt comfortable though because I knew a few of them from before the project. I also, got to officially meet our peer mentors and mentors for the project.
As the weeks went on, people fell off and some people came on strong and that was it we had the set bunch of youngers.
From Buying a pair of Air Force 1’s to the UK HQ Offices,
The first thing charlie did that amazed me was that we had a creative session in Nike’s UK Head quarter offices. It was weird for me at first but the vibe in that building was amazing we did some team building exercises and then had to present ideas for future footwear to the officials which was an experience I won’t forget.
From there on out it was running and emails,
Which was fun, felt like being an unofficial athlete was a business from there I felt like I had a job. So I planned to deliver with anything I did. Emails came in and were replied to but the hour, I asked questions. I was available.
By then I discovered the saying “Help me, Help you” wasn’t just a few words put together it was real.
Furthermore,
I worked with the other youngers to embark on what could possibly have been the best journey of my life and it was. We did everything I loved from filming short films to making music to running to just hanging out. The project became the life.
Fast forward the creative tasks and weekly running, I ran the british 10K in 48 minutes.
Now I work at the Nike Fuel station, which is Nike’s first site dedicated to just experiencing the new digital sports technology.
Life is good and its thanks to the fact I was and am a Run Dem Crew Younger.
